Theres is bunting everywhere this weekend and my 3 year old has become an expert at spotting it. Driving down the road she is quick to say “bunting Daddy” about every 300 yards! I think it is great to see the whole country coming together to celebrate our Queen’s diamond jubilee.
Today we have been making the most of the dry weather by attending a street party for the jubilee that reminded me of the one I was taken to as a child 35 years ago for the silver jubilee. The kids were making crowns and playing games, there was a talent show, some great food, a friendly atmosphere, oh and a beer tent…
Clearly as this is my year without beer in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cancer Research UK I declined the local ales, but clearly everyone else was making up for it because the bar ran out of beer!
I am now sitting down with a nice cup of tea and watching the diamond jubilee concert on BBC1. Apparently Madness are playing later from the roof of Buckingham Palace, which should be awesome!
