Adam Vaughan - Cystic Fibrosis
Adam as a child in his Nan’s kitchen

Today would have been Adam’s 28th Birthday. Sadly, Adam lost his lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis on 4 March 2003 aged just 18 years old.  Adam was a cheeky, inspirational young man and despite spending large parts of his short life in hospital he never once complained, not even of a headache.

Approximately 25% of children affected by Cystic Fibrosis pass away before they become adults and although the life expectancy of Cystic Fibrosis patients continues to increase the average life expectancy is still only 30 to 40 years.

Cystic Fibrosis affects over 9,000 youngsters in the UK and there is presently no cure.

Regular readers of this blog will know that I am giving up all alcohol throughout 2012 (all 366 days) to  raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cancer Research UK.

Please support my Year Without Beer by donating to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Please click here to visit my just giving page or donate by text – send AYWB55 and the amount to 70070. For example, texting “AYWB55 £5″ will donate £5.
